when i am flying (in an aeroplane - i haven’t grown my wings yet), I often look for words in the world below me. Once I even made out my name… i was looking really hard, so i may have become mildly delusional at that point… but it was somewhere between Puerto Rico and Charlotte.

the grey outside my window is spectacular. no camera can truly capture it’s beauty and erie depth. it’s not a dark grey, but a light grey that fades softly to white. the kind of grey sky that brings snow not rain. it is almost silver but does not assume to be as glitsy or brash as such a colour. it is not gloomy, but pregnant with hope. if it had a smell it would be one of my favourite smells… smoke from a real log fire billowing out of a chimney on a cold day or night. the crisp air with the thick smoke. but this grey, the grey of today, wouldn’t be a thick smoke smell.. or quite so crisp air… it would be subtle… you would miss it if you didn’t stop to breathe it in or question it’s existence.
this grey is humble
this grey is constant
this grey is inspiring me to hope and to love the grey of life… the days that don’t seem so exciting. the moments that easily pass us by. we miss them because we don’t think they are interesting, but they continue to make up who we are and there is life in those grey moments… if we would stop to breathe them in or question their existence.
god is constant and steadfast. he is in the grey as much as he is in the black, white and multicoloured shapes of life.
and now it has begun to snow. (i love the snow)
